SOCOM Sales - Spin off websites
By koka sexton • Oct 29th, 2007 • Category: SellingI started the SOCOM Sales site while I was in sales to keep track of ideas and websites I found helpful. Over the year or so it has been active, I have added a lot of personal insights I had regarding sales and marketing. The site is visited about 200-300 times a day and I have done a poor job of analyzing the site. I added Google Analytics to start capturing some of the information like where people are coming from, what keywords they have searched for and the length of stay on the site and what pages get the most traffic.
Anyone serious who manages a website or blog should analyze the traffic coming in. this can serve many purposes which I will outline as time goes on, but for now, just start doing it. you will thank me for it later.
I wanted SOCOM Sales to have a few legs, so I created some spin off sites. one for pure marketing and one for online marketing. These sites are updated automatically a weekly post made by me. The reason for this is simple. There are so many resources of information available that keeping fresh content is easy. Why be selfish about the information you get when you can turn around and share the sites and information with everyone easily. By automatically having content added to your site, you help with spreading your message, getting a lot of general content baked in and also allow a reason for people to bookmark your site or added to RSS readers. If you have a lot of content from many different sites, people will come back to your blog as opposed to having to visit 10-30 other sites individually. All of the legs have links back to the primary SOCOM Sales site which is nothing but content that I write. I get many topics for my personal stories from the automatic feeds from the other sites.
Each spin off site has it’s own advertising mix to diversify the ads and will give me an opportunity to see what advertisers have the best impact. I’ll go over advertisers in a future post.
