Transformation complete

One of my professional ‘New Year Resolutions’ was to bring SOCOM Sales a new look. Running a site like this is very satisfying to me and I have very small expectations when I start them up. Mainly I like to document my progress and highlight any sales tools I find along the way.

As it turns out SOCOM Sales started getting a few consistent readers. I typically don’t mess around with the look of feel of my sites but when I can see that there is getting to be a readership and I am seeing backlinks from other sites, it only makes sense to make a few modifications to give off more of a professional touch.

Get rid of the ads

I had received a few comments and emails about the lofty amount of advertising on my site. I agree, it was a lot, but I was seeing some revenue from it and until recently I figured I could use the extra dough. With the new look, I have done away with may of the banners you had seen but I will keep some advertising revenue coming in from the Featured AD section in the upper right. I think the lack of ads may give the new look a cleaner appearance.

Focus your posts

Another piece of information I had heard was that I write about too many topics. I currently have 24 categories I post in. There is some overlap but there are also categories that really have no bearing on becoming a better sales person. This process takes some time and you will see many of the current categories disappear and maybe one or two get created. Watch out for my new category “LinkedIn Spotlight“.

Review my site

I have gotten emails about this in the past and didn’t know how to approach it. I know that there are many bloggers that make a good dollar on site reviews. Some charge in excess of $400. for a 300 word review. I have written a few blog reviews but I did them for free when someone would ask. I think in 2008 I will do more of these and may start out with a $40 fee for a blog review.

Thank you readers

Really. With out readers, there is no need to make any changes. I am excited that my selling tips and information have been well received.  there will be some minor changes as time moves on but the face lift is done and no back to writing more articles about how to make you more money in sales.
