New theme with Hulu integration

In my ever growing search for the perfect theme, I have changed to a magazine theme from Darren Hoyt called Mimbo. I was looking for something that gave my site a better look and feel and had looked at many magazine type themes. The primary difference of a magazine theme vs. a regular blog layout is just that the site has a category layout and is more consolidated.

So one of the first things I had to do was adjust my entire belief structure around categories and spent most of the weekend adjusting them. Idealy I should only have 4-5 for a theme like this but I currently have 12. I’ll need to work on this a bit more. The Mimbo theme is filled with configurations that you will need to set up before it looks half way decent. As far as free WordPress themes go for magazine templates, Mimbo rocks. I had to get into the code and adjust some of the settings but the Mimbo forum has most of the answers I needed and as long as you know the basics about WordPress code and some PHP experience, then you should be good to go.

Since I don’t have a team of developers working on my site like Super Blogging Tips or ProBlogger I have some work to do in the coming days to fine tune the site and get it running like a real magazine blog.

Hulu integration

One of the best parts of the new theme is that I get to integrate Hulu TV into the site. As many of you know I am a huge fan of hulu and you can read my opinions in The wonderful world of Hulu.com and Hulu Wide Open

Since I am on Hulu just about every day to watch a clip or an entire episode of my favorite tv show, I’ll update the video on a regular basis.
